A silhouette only exists because there's light behind it.
A hoodie for Silhouette Studio, designed as part of the brand's debut collection. The idea starts with how a silhouette actually works: you only see one because there's light behind it. Without the light, there's no shadow. The design used that same relationship as the starting point for the piece, where the harder parts of life only become visible against the good ones. One gives definition to the other.
The brand's monochromatic palette was already established, so the design decisions came through placement, fabric and embellishment instead. Without relying on colour, contrast had to come from texture, weight, and position. The words underneath are a poem written by a close friend, carrying the same idea through text as the garment does through image.
